Federal Telecommunications Minister Ivan Markovic, acting in keeping with article 15 of the international regulations on radio communications of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), demanded from the corresponding administrations for telecommunications of the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina to urgently eliminate the jamming signals produced by radio stations transmitting from the territory of these countries.
The Federal Telecommunications Ministry said in a statement that control measures have shown that from the transmitters Belje in Croatia and Majevica and Tuzla in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the following programs are broadcast: Voice of America (VOA), BBC, Radio Free Europe (RFE), Deutsche Welle (DW), Radio France Internationale (RFI) and USA Radio. Since all these stations transmit at the frequency of 94.5 MHz, they jam the programs of the Serbian Radio-Television (RTS), the first program of Belgrade Radio and the Novi Sad Radio.
Markovic informed ITU General Secretary Yoshio Uchumi about this violation of Yugoslav radio frequencies saying that the jamming of radio stations in the territory of Yugoslavia is contrary to top ITU documents.
