BELGRADE -- Yugoslav Minister for Refugees, Displaced Persons and Humanitarian Assistance Bratislava Morina received on Friday a delegation of Goranies.

The delegation, made up of deputies Mesip Dalifi and Ibro Vajt, and Dr Harun Hasani, informed Morina about the situation in the Gora municipality, the Yugoslav republic of Serbia's Kosovo and Metohija province, the Yugoslav Information Secretariat said.

The delegation said that about 10,000 Goranies living in the area were completely isolated, unprotected and were the target of daily terrorising, murders, plunder and torchings by the ethnic Albanian terrorist organisation calling itself Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).

The delegation said that, backed by the U.N. peacekeeping force KFOR, KLA had seized all institutions in Dragas, sacking Goranies legally appointed to their posts and replacing them with people whose attitude towards Serbia and Yugoslavia was hostile.

Hasani said that KLA had banned the use of the Serbian language and that, consequently, papers stating that Goranies were sacked from their jobs were in Albanian. For this reason, a large number of Goranies have been forced to leave their ancestral land.

Under the 1991 census, Goranies accounted for 16,000 of the 17,574 residents registered in the Gora area.
