| Omar Ali Saifuddin Saadul Khairi Waddien ibni Almarhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam II became the Sultan of Brunei on 04/06/1950 and was the Chief Minister from July 1947 to 1959. He was the fifth son of Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam II and became Sultan following the death of his brother Ahmad Tajuddin. On 04/10/1967, he voluntarily abdicated and succeeded by his son, the current Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. Following his abdication, he continued to serve as the Defense Minister of Brunei. He died on 07/09/1986. | ||
