COMPETITION DETAILS:

Umpire: e-mail: Andre Evers; 481 Worcester St, Christchurch, 03 3891344.

The tournament will be held over 6 rounds, each of 4 hours. Morning rounds will start at 9 am sharp, and the afternoon rounds will start at 2 pm, giving a one hour lunch break. Competitors must be present on Friday morning at 8.30 to listen to the umpire's talk.

Table size will be 8 foot by 6 foot, with 400 AP armies. The rules used will be DBM, v 3.0. Armies must be from chosen from the DBM army list books, volumes 1 to 4 (2nd edition), and only options prior to 1500 A.D will be allowed.

Armies must be organized into fixed commands, including baggage.

The scoring system used will not be that in the rules, but the win / draw / loss system. The number of wins a player gets will be all-important, not the number of commands he breaks and keeps from being broken. One win will be better than any amount of draws, and one draw will be better than any amount of losses. The DBM points system will be used to adjudicate tie-breaks if several players end up with the same number of wins and draws.

The tournament will not be seeded upon previous performance. Instead, each competitor will be given a random number that they will retain throughout the competition. In the initial round, the lowest numbered player will play the next lowest and so on down. However competitors will not be forced to play fellow club members in the first 3 rounds. Lower placed players in later rounds will be allowed to swap opponents to avoid people they play regularly. This will be done at the Umpires discretion.
