who is nerdling?

The übernerdling is a shadowy figure about whom little is known.

Very few of the nerdling staff have actually met with the übernerdling face to face. For the most part, we receive instructions and editorial guidance via the subetheric forum known as the internet. But other times, usually close to deadline, one of us might walk into an office at a late hour and sense a strange crisp smell like rain, maybe hear a creak on the stair or see a curtain corner flapping restlessly in the breeze through a window, slightly ajar. At times like this, we usually find files have stealthily been deposited on our computers, or fastidiously typed pages have been placed on desks. Then we know that we have been priveleged enough to be visited by the shadowy personage of the übernerdling.

Many rumours have been whispered about the identity of the übernerdling. Some say that this visionary yet mysterious creature lives a solitary life in a complex series of underground caves on the east coast of Australia, where there exists the freedom to practice many dangerous and secret laboratory experiments. Others go so far as to doubt that the übernerdling does in fact exist. However, the existence of the zine nerdling is proof enough. It was instigated by the übernerdling and it is due to the übernerdling that it continues unerringly in its missions: namely, to bring the practitioners of science and mathematics closer through a common forum; to keep alive the enthusiasm for science and maths that university or school life so often deadens; and to give a voice to the übernerdling's urgent need for creative expression.

So, dear readers, if nerdling has struck a chord of resonance with you, maybe you too are a kindred spirit of the übernerdling. Why not send an email c/o the nerdling offices and we'll leave it on a desk, for those nights when the enigmatic editor stalks through. You may even get a reply.
