Every year the Youth Executive committee are in charge of running an annual youth forum. This forum is a chance for Guides aged 14-18 and their leaders to come together to discuss issues relevant to them. It is your opportunity to have your say on what acctivities are scheduled for the current year, to have input on decisions which will impact you and to become a member of the Youth Executive Committee.
Thsi year, youth forum is going residential. This decision came as as attempt to make forum more 'distance friendly'. We realise the dificulty experienced for some of our country guides to come to melbourne just for one day. In 2002 the forum will eb held over a weekend, as not to interupt school work, this is the weekend leading into holidays. Hopefully making forum residential will encourage more gudies to coem and experience this unique event.
Spending a whole weekend talking about Guiding issues is not everyone's idea of fun, this we know! Keep in mind that forum had been organised and is being run by people your age. We know how boring it is to sit and listen to peopel go on abotu stuff we dont care about all day- that's what school is for!! We know that the theory of smiling and nodding can only cary you so far! Youth Forum is not only about discussion, it is about meting new friends and having FUN! Along with the forum, discussion groups and other official business, there will be many fun acctivities and oportunities to go crazy with friends, new and old!
Our main activity for the weekend is a formal dinner, which is fully catered for (yep, no burnt garlic bread or runny apricot chicken!), this three course meal which includes mocktails and trivia will be a great way to unwind after a long day of, well going crazy! Activity sessions are included between serious sessions, with activities such as Abseiling, fire sticking, flying fox crafts and much more!!
