Cry Fawrling was perfectly content with locking herself into a childish world, despite the fact that she was in high school. But she's been an embarrassment to her family, and now she has to somehow make it up to them by providing money for her and her mother to live on.
Because of her low qualifications, there's not a lot she can do. And so that means that Cry has to enter a workforce she hadn't ever thought she'd be in, and with that comes trouble.

And although at times her family is forgotten, Cry knows that they still exist out there. So when she feels conflicted, she knows of one place that she must try to go to - the family she's never met, but has read about in letters and seen in photographs.
