WELCOME

The Diamond Creek Netball Club has been in existence for approximately 23
years. We started with two teams and sixteen players. We now have 50
teams and approximately 500 players.

With a lot of hard work over many years we have been lucky enough to have
our own club- rooms built on the Diamond Street site in Diamond Creek.
There are eight outdoor lit courts and the club room complex. This complex is
used not only by the netball club but many community groups. The club has
formed a steering committee and are presently lobbying council to build
indoor courts in Diamond Creek.

At Diamond Creek we try to cater for all level of players, from beginners
through to the more experienced State League players.

In 2002 Force Netball Club ceased to be a stand alone identity and re-joined
Diamond Creek Netball Association. Therefore the name change to Diamond
Creek Force Netball Club. Diamond Creek Force Netball Club now fields
tTeams from 9 & under through to top level state league.

As a club we welcome you as an old player returning for yet another season
or as a new player coming into our/your club. We will endeavour to do our
best to ensure that you enjoy your netball, whether this be as an under 9
player or a player striving to play at a higher level.

TEAMS

Once you have become a member of the Diamond Creek Force Netball Club,
yYou will be placed in a team with players of your ability and age group. All
players are expected to train. The club fields teams on Saturday’s and in the
Tuesday night competition which starts in February. Look out for notices
about Tuesday night competition if you wish to play.

TUESDAY NIGHT COMPETITION

The Tuesday night competition runs from February to December split into two
seasons. The competition consists of 9/U, 11/U & 13/U. There are NEW
MIXED 14-18 year olds Tuesday evenings.

NETTA NETBALL - A FUN WAY TO START

Netta Netball is a game for young players starting out in netball. The age
group is usually 6 - 9 year olds. They have a skills session on Saturday
mornings and after a few weeks they are advanced into Netta Teams. This
means they also learn the rules as well as playing modified games on
Saturdays. No scores are kept and players must rotate positions. This has
proven very successful over the last nine years. Cost is kept to a minimal
amount and no uniform is required.

TOURNAMENTS

Diamond Creek Force Netball Association enters between 5 – 8 tournaments
a year.

1 country and 4 – 7 suburban.

All players may try out for these teams, competition for places is keenly
sought and selection is a tough process for both players and selectors. Once
you are placed in a team you are requested to attend all training sessions and
tournaments. There is a cost involved and the purchase of a uniform is
required. Girls must give considerable thought to tournament teams as the
involvement level is high. Parents please think this through as you will also be
giving up some of your free time.

TRAINING

Training night is:        MONDAY
Times are:
11 & Under and 9 & Under                   4pm - 5pm
13 & Under, l5 & Under and Open:        5pm - 6pm

1. Training is compulsory for all age groups.
2. If there are good reasons for non attendance please phone your coach
ahead of time so she can inform the Monday night coordinator. Sessions have
to be planned in advance, so numbers matter.
3. Parents are most welcome to observe training and participate. Tea and
coffee are available at training free of charge.
4. Collect children on time at the conclusion of training sessions. The
coordinator often has other commitments and cannot be responsible for the
safety of players after training.
5. Bring a water bottle in the summer months.

There is no training:

If it is wet (If you are not sure don’t send players as there may not be anyone
at the club rooms). If it is hot and above 34 degC do not send players. We
have a heat stress policy.

GAMES

1. Again, regular attendance, punctuality and advance information when
absent are important.
2. The club wishes parents to be a positive influence, giving encouragement to
players and coaches and setting high standards in attitude toward officials.
The club expects all spectators to behave in a professional manner and not
show poor conduct.
3. Please learn to score and fill out score sheet. Ask if you don’t know.
4. Keep courts clean. No smoking inside the clubrooms and night venues.
5. Please bring exact game fee (your coach will tell you how much) to all
games. Change is often not available. The team manager is not responsible
for paying for your child.
6. Make sure you arrive at the game 10 minutes prior to game time, ready to
play. No jewellery and no long nails. Be in uniform with your shirt tucked
neatly into your skirt.
7. Learn some key rules- for instance holding the ball for three seconds, throw
in rule. Rule books are available from the front booth.

COMPETITION RULES

Only players that have taken place in the game can be on the score sheet.
If someone does not show up cross them off the score sheet.
Players must play three games to qualify for finals.
Players can not play twice in the one age group on the one day.
There is a full copy of rules at all venues. If you have a concern read them.

THE EARLY ROUNDS OF COMPETITION

Please note that in the early rounds there is some grading of teams and
players. Don’t worry. In most cases, matters sort out. But if by round 4 you
think your child is under graded or over graded please inform the Club
Coordinator.

have to work out their own roster for this time. Younger teams are to be
represented at canteen duty by their parents.

END OF YEAR BREAK UP

an enormous success. It is held on Grand Final Day in December. At this
event trophy’s are given to the Club Player Of The Year in each age group.
