MAY MEETING

In alternate months, PFLAGSOUTH hosts a speaker, usually on some topic of relevance to the group. This time a speaker from the Otago Youth Wellness Trust described the wide -ranging and positive work carried out with young people who are at risk in this city. It was encouraging to hear how the Trust works in cooperation with other agencies, to serve a variety of needs. We are pleased to be in contact with this group. It seemed timely that we could become more aware of O.Y.W.T. just as its founder was recognised in the Queens Birthday honours list.

 SECOND BIRTHDAY

May 2001 marked the second Birthday of PFLAGSOUTH, and we celebrated the group, and its friendships and the new friends we have welcomed in that time. (One of these had baked a delicious cake for the occasion) We also discussed ways we could all share the greater amount of work the group is doing now.

PUBLICITY

The group plans to begin posting information about PFLAGSOUTH to larger  towns in Otago and Southland. An accompanying letter is being written.

WEBSITE

Hits at the time of writing, over 900. Several people have left appreciative messages. The stories continue to attract the most interest. Another story is almost ready to be put on the site; one that is unique and will be of great value. We will soon  be able to offer resources about transgendered people, and about bisexuality on the site.

JUNE MEETING

Will be on Monday 25th June  on the first floor of Community House on the corner of Great King Street and Moray Place.

At this meeting we will listen to the story of a member of the group and will make this the basis for honest discussion and support. This would be an ideal meeting to come to if you would like to be part of PFLAGSOUTH.The meeting will begin at 7.30, but we assemble for tea and coffee from about 7.10 onwards.

NEW FRIENDS AND FAMILIES MOST WECOME TO ATTEND
