INTRO

Epic 40,000 is a tabletop miniatures wargame set in Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 Universe. It takes the cultural archetypes established by Tolkien, and places them into a science fiction setting 38,000 years into our own future. Space faring Humans meet Space Orks, Space Elves (Eldar), and Chaotic Entities. Added to this mix are the Bio-engineering Tyranids, which have similarities to the generic 'alien' archetype, from sources such as 'Starship Troopers', and the 'Alien' series of movies.

In the Epic 40,000 universe most Humans live in an age of darkness and ignorance, praying to their God Emperor, while Inquisitors hunt down any who deviate from his righteousness. The Orks are babaric savages who live for nothing more than war and conquest. The Eldar are an ancient race fallen from greatness, now xenophobic and few in number. Chaos are nightmares given substance as they warp into the material universe. Tyranids are 'The Great Devourer' that assimilates all in its path.

Needless to say, all these different beings have a difficult time getting along, so it makes a good background for the wargaming :)

UPDATE - 24.04.04

As most people realise, 2004 sees Epic Armageddon released in all its glory... while I have space on this site I will keep the Epic 40k game reports and rules online. However as I am now playing Epic Armageddon rather than Epic 40k, from April 2004 updates will be almost exclusively Epic Armageddon. Also, I have removed the catalogue pages as these are now out of date.

EPIC 40K RULES SECTION

Epic Rule Amendments 1.0 is a two page Word document designed to be used with the Epic 40,000 Boxed Set or the Epic 40,000 Players Edition. The document contains the amendments and house rules used by our group here in Christchurch New Zealand. Games Workshop is currently working on a set of rules called Adeptus Titanicus 2 (ATII). Adeptus Titanicus (AT) was the first incarnation of the Epic Rules, published in 1988. We are not using the ATII rules at the present time, though if you are interested, ATII (and lots of other stuff) is available for free download from the Fanatic Website (see the links section below). Also in 2002 Games Workshop have announced that 'Epic Armageddon' (the next edition of rules for the Epic world) will be released sometime in 2003. Demo and playtest rules are available form the links section below.

New in July 2002 - I have uploaded complete Fate Card sets (Word documents) for the five Epic40k races, click the links to download:

Eldar Fate Cards
